Thailand Taxonomy Phase 2 Unveiled to Boost Sustainable Activities

The Thailand Taxonomy Board, comprised of representatives from key agencies including the Department of Climate Change and Environment, the Bank of thailand, and the Securities and Exchange commission, has released Thailand Taxonomy Phase 2. This initiative aims to define and classify environmentally sustainable activities, focusing on sectors with high greenhouse gas emissions.
This second phase of the Thailand Taxonomy builds upon Phase 1 by addressing agriculture, construction and real estate, manufacturing, and waste management. Phase 1 concentrated on the energy and transportation sectors. The new phase outlines six key objectives,including climate change mitigation and adaptation,sustainable use of water resources,and pollution prevention.
The development of this sustainable taxonomy involved extensive stakeholder consultations, beginning in February 2024 and followed by a public consultation period from late October 2024 to early January 2025.Input from government agencies,the private sector,academia,and international organizations was carefully considered and integrated into the final document.
to promote understanding and use of the Thailand Taxonomy, the Board is co-organizing a seminar titled “Thailand Taxonomy 2.0: driving the Thai economy towards sustainability” on May 27, 2025. The seminar will be livestreamed on the official Facebook pages of the DCCE, BOT, SEC, and SET.
