Bangkok Climbs to 7th in Global Convention Rankings

Bangkok’s role as a premier destination for international conventions is solidifying, achieving 7th place globally in the latest ICCA rankings. This represents a critically important leap from 15th position in 2023. The roles of Thai cities in the meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry are expanding, with a record 13 cities now featured in the rankings, making Thailand the top convention destination within ASEAN.
Thailand hosted 158 international conventions in 2024, securing 25th place worldwide and 5th in the Asia-Pacific region. Bangkok alone hosted 115 of these events, boosting its reputation in the MICE sector.This improved ranking has attracted increased interest from international associations, further enhancing Bangkok’s appeal as a host city. The city’s diverse offerings play a crucial role in attracting these events.
Puripan Bunnag, from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition bureau (TCEB), expressed his enthusiasm for the performance of Thai cities. He emphasized the importance of continuously improving operational standards to meet the evolving demands of the market.
TCEB’s ongoing efforts aim to position Thailand as a premier destination for MICE events, leveraging its unique cultural settings for memorable experiences,” Bunnag said.

TCEB plans to continue enhancing Thailand’s infrastructure and services to attract even more international conventions, further solidifying its position as a leader in the global MICE industry.
