A record 6.58 million people in Southern California will travel for Thanksgiving. The worst traffic will occur on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday.
Weather Conditions
The National Weather Service predicts rain for the region. An atmospheric river will bring light showers starting Tuesday afternoon and lasting until Wednesday morning. Rainfall amounts will be around a tenth of an inch or less per hour in areas between Los Angeles and San Diego. The heaviest rain will fall late Tuesday night, especially in mountainous regions like the Grapevine, where more than half an inch is expected. Snow is forecasted above 9,000 feet.
Thanksgiving Day
On Thanksgiving Day, the weather will be dry with sunny conditions. Temperatures will reach the upper 60s to low 70s along the coast and in the valleys.
Post-Thanksgiving Weekend
A warming trend will begin after Thanksgiving, with temperatures rising five to ten degrees above average in the valleys. Residents in areas like the San Fernando Valley, Mission Viejo, and Temecula can enjoy temperatures around 76 degrees for outdoor activities. The coast will see temperatures in the low 70s and upper 60s. Dry weather is expected to continue into the following week.
