Pepe Coin Listed on Upbit: Surge in Trading Volume

Pepe Coin, a new memecoin, was listed on the Upbit exchange on November 14. Within just three hours of its listing, trading volume exceeded 70 billion won. This marks a 40% increase from the previous day.

As of 4 PM, Pepe Coin’s market capitalization was 13.46 trillion won. On the Bithumb exchange, the trading volume for PayPal Coin ranked first, while Pepe Coin was third, behind Dogecoin and Bitcoin. Dogecoin reached about 1.45 trillion won, and Bitcoin was at approximately 1.2 trillion won.

Pepe Coin is based on the Pepe character, a well-known internet meme. It aims to challenge existing memecoins like DozCoin. Its high supply and low price make it accessible, fostering community involvement around memes.

When the Upbit listing was announced at 10:50 AM, Pepe Coin’s price rose by 8.5% within one minute. The market’s growing interest in virtual assets coincides with rising investment sentiment following the recent presidential election.

A representative from a virtual asset exchange noted that while memecoins like DozCoin gain popularity, investors should exercise caution due to potential overinvestment.
