The 29th Busan International Film Festival Special Project Program ‘Teenagers’ Minds, Teens’ Movies’ Released
The 29th Busan International Film Festival presents a special program titled ‘Teenagers’ Minds, Teenager Movies’, which features new Asian films that tell the stories of teenagers.
This program includes works that received attention at major international film festivals last year and this year, such as , which won the Critics’ Week Grand Prix at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and the Orizzonti Section Best Actor Award at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, , which was introduced in Un Certain Regard at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, , which was invited to the Orizzonti Section at the Venice Film Festival, , which won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival, and , which won the New Talent Screenplay Award at the Shanghai Film Festival. In addition, new world premieres are also ready to meet audiences for the first time in Busan.
This special feature program was planned based on the fact that many excellent teen coming-of-age films have been coming out of Asia recently. Taiwan and Japan have traditionally produced excellent teen coming-of-age films, such as Edward Yang’s , Hou Hsiao-hsien’s , Hirokazu Koreeda’s , Nobuhiro Yamashita’s , Shunji Iwai’s , and Takeshi Kitano’s , but this trend has recently expanded to other Asian countries. Following the attention of films like , , and in Korea, teen films are growing in various Asian countries, including Malaysian films , Mongolian films , and Indian films . These films capture the hearts of audiences by looking at the honest aspects of life and the hidden truth of the world through the eyes of teenagers. They also receive love from all age groups, sometimes boldly revealing the sex and love of teenagers, and sometimes vaguely reminiscing.
Presenting the most notable trends in the international film industry, ‘Teenagers’ Minds, Teen Movies’ is a must-see program at this year’s Busan International Film Festival.
The 29th Busan International Film Festival will be held for ten days from Wednesday, October 2nd to Friday, October 11th at the Busan Cinema Center.
