The Cure Unveils Haunting New Single: “Alone
The Cure’s Long-Awaited Album: A Glimpse into the Lost World
After sixteen years of anticipation, The Cure’s fans are finally rewarded with the release of their long-awaited album, Lost World Songs. The album’s name alone feels like an elegy to the past, and it’s a fitting title for a band that has always been known for their melancholic yet uplifting sound.
A Glimpse into the Lost Universe
The album’s first single, “Alone,” offers a glimpse into this lost universe. The song was first heard during The Cure’s show at the Sportpaleis two years ago, and it effortlessly captures the essence of the band’s past work. With its subtle buildup, ethereal guitars, and dramatic drum patterns, “Alone” is a hauntingly beautiful song that sets the tone for the rest of the album.
According to Robert Smith, the song’s lyrics were inspired by British poet Ernest Dowson’s poem “Dregs.” The song’s creative conclusion marked a turning point for the album, giving Smith the feeling that Lost World Songs had a compact vision.
Album Release and Tracklist
Lost World Songs is set to be released on November 1st via Polydor/Fiction and will contain eight songs. The album promises to take listeners on a journey to the darkest corners of The Cure’s artistic souls.
