The Disappearance of Adachi: A Japanese Mystery

Police in Nantan, Kyoto Prefecture, discovered a body on April 13, 2026, which is believed to be 11-year-old Yuki Adachi, who had been missing since March 23, 2026.

The body was found on the afternoon of April 13, 2026, in a woodland area in the Sonobe district. The location was approximately 8 kilometers northeast of the boy’s home and roughly 2 kilometers southwest of Sonobe Municipal Elementary School, which Adachi attended.

Yuki Adachi disappeared on March 23, 2026. According to police, Adachi’s father drove him toward the school on that date, but the boy never arrived in class. His homeroom teacher notified his mother around noon on March 23, 2026, that he was absent.

Authorities reviewed security camera footage, which did not capture Adachi entering the school grounds.

Search and Evidence Recovery

A large-scale search operation involving approximately 1,000 officers was conducted in the region. On March 29, 2026, a relative discovered Adachi’s yellow backpack in a wooded area located about 3 kilometers from the school.
