The Durable and Rugged Honor Magic7 Lite

Honor Kicks Off 2025 with Two New Magic Series Smartphones

Honor has startedstrong this year 2025, unveiling two new smartphones, the Magic7 and Magic7 Lite, catering to different market segments. While the Magic7 Pro promises high-end features and performance, the Magic7 Lite offers a compelling alternative for budget-conscious consumers seeking a robust, long-lasting device.

Design and Build Quality

The Magic7 Lite boasts a sleek, contemporary design with a large, vibrant Amoled display and a chunky camera bump at the rear. However, it’s not just about looks; this smartphone means business when it comes to durability. We put it through its paces, subjecting it to multiple drops and aggressive usage scenarios, and it emerged unscathed. The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and the IP64 water and dust resistance rating ensure that this device can handle a fair amount of abuse. Unfortunately, Honor didn’t provide full IP68 waterproofing, but it’s still an impressive feat for a mid-range smartphone.

Display and Performance

Under the hood, the Magic7 Lite features a 6.78-inch Amoled display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2700 x 1224 pixels. Colors are punchy and vivid, making it excellent for media consumption. Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. While it can handle day-to-day tasks with ease, don’t expect blazing-fast performance or smooth gameplay at high settings. The phone can handle most 3D games, but you might need to dial back some graphics settings to maintain a smooth frame rate.

Camera

In terms of photography, the Magic7 Lite features a 108MP main camera and a 5MP ultrawide lens. The main camera captures detailed, well-exposed images during the day, while the ultrawide lens suffers from a lack of detail and muted colors. Low-light performance is where the Magic7 Lite stumbles, with images appearing soft and noisy. Selfies are decent, with the 16MP front-facing camera capturing reasonably detailed images in well-lit conditions.

Battery and Software

The standout feature of the Magic7 Lite is its massive 6600mAh battery, which offers over two days of usage on a single charge. Even heavy users can expect to make it through an entire day with plenty of juice left over. The phone supports 66W fast charging, allowing it to reach a 50% charge in just 30 minutes.

Honor has promised an extended software support for the Magic7 Lite, with Android and security updates stretching over four years. The device ships with Android 14 out of the box, and Honor’s Magic UI 6 skin on top, which offers a clean, intuitive user experience.

Price and Competition

The Honor Magic7 Lite is priced at 380 euros, but it can be found for around 300 euros online. For the price, it offers an impressive combination of durability, battery life, and display quality. Its closest competitor is the Moto G Power (2023), which offers a slightly larger battery and a more powerful processor but lacks the Magic7 Lite’s robust build quality and vibrant display.

Should You Buy the Honor Magic7 Lite?

If you’re looking for a budget smartphone with excellent battery life, a durable design, and a great display, the Honor Magic7 Lite is an excellent choice. While its performance and camera might not compete with flagship devices, it offers an impressive set of features for its price point. If you can live with its limitations in low-light photography and high-end gaming, the Magic7 Lite is well worth considering.
