The Hidalgo state government will launch its 2026-2027 Winter Season Vaccination Campaign on October 12, 2026, targeting a distribution of un millón 524 mil 640 doses against influenza and COVID-19 to prevent respiratory illness complications across the region.
Hidalgo Winter Vaccine Targets
State health officials announced plans to administer un millón 8 mil 20 doses against influenza and 516 mil 620 doses against COVID-19 through public health medical units and institutional mechanisms. Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar leads the state administration overseeing the initiative, coordinated by the Hidalgo Ministry of Health under Vanesa Escalante Arroyo.
The immunization goals for the upcoming winter period show a significant scale-up compared to previous distribution efforts. Influenza targets increase by 13.9 percent, while COVID-19 targets expand by 89.6 percent to address health risks tied to falling temperatures.
Priority Groups and Public Distribution
State vaccination lead Yadira Téllez Redondo confirmed that priority for the free immunizations will go to young children, older adults, pregnant women, healthcare workers, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions. Public health services will provide the biological doses at no cost across medical facilities.
During the previous winter campaign, the Hidalgo Health Sector administered 911 mil 622 influenza doses, reaching 103 percent of its established goal, and delivered 283 mil 407 COVID-19 doses, achieving a 104 percent completion rate.
Preventive Health Guidelines
The Hidalgo Ministry of Health urges residents to check their National Health Cards at nearby medical units to verify and complete their vaccination schedules. Health authorities also recommend maintaining frequent handwashing, ventilating closed spaces, practicing proper respiratory hygiene when sneezing, seeking timely medical attention for respiratory symptoms, and avoiding self-medication.
