Southern Brave delivered a stunning performance, thrashing Oval Invincibles by a monumental 89 runs on Monday, August 18, 2025. This victory marks the largest margin of victory, in terms of runs, in the history of The Hundred’s women’s competition. It builds on the momentum of recent high-scoring contests, surpassing London Spirit’s 88-run win against Birmingham Phoenix just days earlier.
Brave’s Batting Prowess Sets the Tone
A strong batting performance from southern Brave laid the foundation for their victory.Maia Bouchier (34), Danni Wyatt-Hodge (26), and Laura Wolvaardt (36) spearheaded the innings, guiding their team to a competitive total of 161-6. The Invincibles struggled to contain Brave’s aggressive top order.
However, the real story of the match unfolded with the ball. Mady Villiers was exceptional, claiming 3 wickets for just 17 runs, effectively dismantling the Invincibles’ batting lineup.
Invincibles’ Struggles and a Collapsing Innings
Chasing 162, Oval Invincibles faltered from the outset.The early loss of both openers, Lauren Winfield-Hill and Meg Lanning, to the bowling of Sophie Devine within the powerplay, set a disastrous tone.
