The Last of Us Season 2: Coming Soon
‘The Last of Us’ Sets New Standard for Video Game Adaptations
HBO’s “the Last of Us” has garnered notable attention, with bloggers and critics dissecting each episode for its adherence to, or deviation from, the source material. The series has reportedly broken viewership records for HBO.
Industry experts suggest that “The Last of Us” has raised the bar for future video game adaptations, setting a new standard of quality for aspiring projects in the genre.
One key factor in the show’s success might potentially be the involvement of Neil Druckmann, the author of the original video game,as one of the series’ writers. Craig Mazin, known for his work on the acclaimed series “Chernobyl” (2019), also joined the project, further bolstering its creative team.
Actors Find Inspiration, Not Imitation, in Source Material
Pedro Pascal portrays Joel, continuing his recent trend of paternal roles, following appearances in “The mandalorian” (2019-2023) and “Wonder Woman 1984” (2020). Ellie is played by Bella Ramsey, known for her role as Lyanna Mormont in “Game of Thrones” (2011-2019). Pascal also appeared in “Game of Thrones,” playing Oberyn Martell.
While pascal admits he isn’t an avid gamer, he watched his nephew play “The Last of Us.” Fascinated by Joel’s character, Pascal chose not to directly copy the video game portrayal, instead allowing the series’ writers to guide his performance. He noted that maintaining a separation between himself and the character proved more challenging in the second season.
