Mexican alternative rock band Plastilina Mosh continues to remember the celebrity who “godmothered” their iconic 1998 music video for “Mr. P-Mosh,” according to recent reflections shared by the group. The band members Alejandro Rosso and Jonás González have expressed ongoing gratitude toward vedette Lyn May for her participation in the video, which marked a significant moment in both the song’s legacy and her career.

The revelation emerged from a Google Alert dated April 25, 2026, referencing a discovery headline from La Prensa’s “Rostros y Famosos” section: “Agradecidos con Lyn May.” This acknowledgment aligns with prior statements from Lyn May herself, who in June 2023 commemorated the 25th anniversary of the “Mr. P-Mosh” video on Instagram, noting that her involvement “changed my career completely.” At the time, she emphasized that despite her extensive background in film, theater, cabarets, and television, she had never before filmed a music video and did not anticipate its widespread impact.

Plastilina Mosh, formed in 1997 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, gained early recognition with their debut single “Niño Bomba” and achieved broader success with the release of their debut album Aquamosh in 1998. The album, produced in Arcata, California, with Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf, featured “Mr. P-Mosh” as its first promoted single. The song became the band’s most famous track, helping establish their reputation for blending alternative rock, electronic elements, and multilingual lyrics across genres such as dance-rock and pop rock.

The music video for “Mr. P-Mosh,” directed by Fernando Eimbcke, remains a notable artifact from the late 1990s Mexican rock scene. Its production coincided with the band’s rise during the Avanzada Regia movement, a cultural wave originating in Monterrey that included influential acts like Café Tacuba. Plastilina Mosh has cited collaborations with such groups as part of their artistic evolution, noting in biographical sources that the third track on Aquamosh featured Café Tacuba.

Over the years, the band has maintained an active presence in the Latin alternative music landscape, releasing four studio records by 2018 and continuing to perform internationally. Their work is characterized by genre experimentation, often incorporating rap, dance, and rock while shifting between languages including English, Spanish, Italian, and French within individual songs.

The enduring recognition of Lyn May’s role in the “Mr. P-Mosh” video underscores the lasting cultural resonance of the track and its visual accompaniment. Both the band and the vedette have pointed to the collaboration as a career-defining moment, illustrating how cross-disciplinary partnerships in Mexican entertainment can leave a lasting imprint on artists across generations.
