The National Prosecutor’s Office rules out any influence on his appointment

The National Prosecutor’s Office refer to the latest revelations of the Audios case, which reported on the conversations between the lawyer Luis Hermosilla and Angel Valenciathe head of the Public Administration.
The organization responded to the report CHV newswhere the conversations between the lawyer and Angel Valencia were reported, making it clear that this situation did not influence Valencia’s appointment as National Prosecutor.

“We confirm that the National Prosecutor, as he has said publicly many times, has held conversations with Mr. Luis Hermosilla in his work as a private lawyer before taking up his current position in the Public Ministry,” they have stated in a statement.
But the report also noted the relations between Hermosilla and the prosecutor Metropolitan Oriente, Lorena Parra, when the lawyer was the defender of the priest John O’Reilly, guilty of sexually abusing minors.
Considering this situation, the Public Ministry explained that these conversations “did not in any way prevent the Regional Prosecutor and her team from investigating the defendants involved in the Audios Case.”
