The Rolling Stones Tease New Music and Announce Album Foreign Tongues

The Rolling Stones are preparing to release their 25th studio album, reportedly titled Foreign Tongues, following a series of cryptic promotional teasers and the emergence of new material in music databases.

The band has utilized an alternative identity, The Cockroaches, to signal the upcoming project. This alias was previously used by the group for secret performances at Toronto’s El Mocambo club in 1977. Recent promotional activity included the placement of cryptic posters across London and the launch of a website featuring a countdown clock and coordinates leading to various record stores.

On April 10, 2026, a teaser video was posted to an Instagram channel under the name thecockroaches2026. The video featured a man playing a white label 12-inch record, which opened with a blues electric guitar riff and a vocal snippet from Mick Jagger. The caption 64 &amp. Counting referenced the number of years since the band’s founding.

New Single and Album Details

Reports indicate that the band will release a new single to preview the album. One source identifies the lead track as Mr Charm, a Jagger and Richards composition registered with ASCAP, BMI, and the French registry SACEM. Another report from The Times suggests a different single titled Rough and Twisted would be released as a white label vinyl exclusive on April 11, 2026.

The track Rough and Twisted reportedly features lyrics about traveling to Puerto Rico and includes a harmonica solo and a distinct guitar riff. The upcoming album, Foreign Tongues, is described as a nod to the band’s iconic tongue-and-lips logo.

There are conflicting reports regarding the official release date of the album. Some sources suggest the project will be unveiled on April 11, 2026, while others indicate a release window in June or specifically on July 10, 2026.

Production and Recording

The Rolling Stones have again partnered with producer Andrew Watt, who previously worked on their 2023 album Hackney Diamonds. Recording for the new material reportedly took place at Metropolis Studios in West London.

Ronnie Wood confirmed in 2023 that the band had recorded 23 songs during these sessions, leaving 11 completed tracks in the vault for a subsequent release. Wood later confirmed that the new album was finished and set to arrive in 2026.

Touring Status

Despite the new music, the band is unlikely to announce a full tour in the immediate future. Plans for a UK and European stadium tour in 2026 were scrapped because Keith Richards was unable to commit to the schedule.

The group’s most recent major touring activity was the 2024 Hackney Diamonds tour in the United States, which consisted of 20 dates and generated approximately $235 million. Their last performances in the UK took place in 2022, including shows at Liverpool’s Anfield and two dates at BST Hyde Park.
