Venezuela’s Kenpo Team Triumphs at IKC World Cup

Aragüeño kenpo athletes who represented Venezuela in the IKC World Cup in Mexico were celebrated with a grand reception at the Yulimar Rojas Leisure Park in Turmero, municipality of Santiago Marino. The athletes were honored for their outstanding performance and medal haul.

The Venezuelan kenpo team secured a total of 21 medals at the IKC World Cup held in Aguascalientes, Mexico. A large contingent of Aragüeño martial artists participated in this prestigious event.

Considered one of the most important events on the International Kenpo circuit, the IKC World Cup celebrated its 60th anniversary with the participation of 1,100 athletes from 18 countries worldwide.

Athletes Shine Bright

Erika Rojas, president of the Kenpo Association of the state of Aragua and coach of the Venezuelan team, highlighted the achievements of several athletes. François Pérez won two gold and two bronze medals; Carlos Ávila secured one gold medal, one silver medal, and two bronze medals.

Abraham González, the national champion of Venezuela and a member of the Venezuelan B national team, impressed with two gold and two bronze medals. Zaied Méndez claimed three gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal.

Joana Sánchez, a member of the Venezuelan national team, gold medalist in the National Youth Games, and currently training as an athlete from Aragua, won a silver medal in self-defense.

Years of Dedication Pay Off

Coach Rojas expressed her immense pride in the young Aragüeños’ performance at this international tournament. “I feel extremely proud of the result, an amazing result for an event of this size. It was a high-quality event; it’s a truly great emotion. They have trained for many years to achieve this result,” she said.

Coach Rojas reaffirmed her commitment to nurturing new talents. “I carry that in my veins, and I believe that the years will pass, and we will be there until God allows us to do so,” stated the Kenpo master.
