The Weeknd Announces Final Album ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ Release Date and Film Debut
The Weeknd will release his sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, on January 24. This album is the last part of a trilogy, following After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022).
Three singles have been released ahead of the album: “Dancing in the Flames,” “Timeless” featuring Playboi Carti, and “São Paulo” featuring Anitta. “Timeless” reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in October.
The Weeknd debuted these songs at a one-night-only show in São Paulo, Brazil, in September. He also performed at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, and at stadiums in Melbourne and Sydney in October.
Additionally, The Weeknd will make his feature film debut in a psychological thriller titled Hurry Up Tomorrow. Trey Edward Shults directs it, and Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan star alongside him. The Weeknd and Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) will score the film.
In a May 2023 interview, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, revealed that this will be his final album as The Weeknd. He expressed a desire to move on from that persona and possibly create music under his real name. He described this album as his last significant project under the name.
This conclusion reflects his journey, which began over a decade ago. In 2011, he released three mixtapes: House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence. These were later remastered and released as the compilation album Trilogy in 2012.
Stay tuned for The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow announcement and its upcoming release.
