The Weeknd drew 108,000 fans across two sold-out nights at Goyang Stadium on October 7 and 8, delivering a 40-song set for his After Hours Til Dawn tour, asasie.co.kr reported.
The Weeknd Performs 40 Songs Beside Robot Sculpture
A 12-meter-tall golden robot sculpture created by Japanese contemporary artist Hajime Sorayama stood at the center of a cruciform catwalk, shooting laser beams from its mask as green lasers cut across the venue. Fire pillars generated intense heat that reached the audience seats, but the main draw of the evening remained The Weeknd’s live vocals. Switching between falsetto and chest voice, the singer delivered 40 songs without a break during the two-hour concert.
The setlist spanned a decade of music, moving from early R&B and synth-pop to electronic tracks. The singer opened with Baptized in Fear on the extended stage before moving through Open Hearts, Wake Me Up, After Hours, Starboy, and Heartless. Lighting, visual displays, and masked dancers matched the dark, tense atmosphere of his catalog.
Ticket Sales Growth Since 2018 Seoul Dome Debut
Taking off his mask, The Weeknd addressed the crowd in Goyang about his previous visit. Korea, do you know how much I love you? Do you love me as much as I love you?
he asked, recalling his 2018 concert. He told the audience that his show eight years prior was his first-ever stadium performance, noting that fans gave him incredible love then and matched it at Goyang Stadium.
While his 2018 performance at Gocheok Sky Dome drew about 24,000 attendees, the current Goyang dates expanded to 54,000 seats per night for a total of 108,000 tickets. General ticket sales opened in May and sold out in 35 minutes, drawing a peak of 1.3 million simultaneous users.
Vocal Range And Crowd Singalongs Across Forty Tracks
The Weeknd altered his phrasing and breathing between fast and slow arrangements. On Wicked Games, he held notes and cut them short to maintain R&B tension, while Call Out My Name featured powerful transitions from low to high registers. Soft falsettos defined I Feel It Coming and Die for You, with the latter starting entirely through audience singalongs as he turned his microphone toward the stands.
Electronic heavy beats shaped Starboy and Heartless, while São Paulo shifted the rhythm to Brazilian funk. Synth-driven dance tracks followed during Take My Breath and Sacrifice. Throughout the performance, he incorporated the words Korea and Goyang into his lyrics, made hand hearts, and walked down to touch hands with fans.
Tour Totals And The Second Goyang Stadium Performance
Following a performance of One of the Girls, which features Blackpink’s Jennie, he asked the audience if they knew how much he loved them. The largest choir of the night emerged during Blinding Lights, where the crowd sang the opening melody before the synthesizer rhythm kicked in, accompanied by glowing wristbands across the venue. The concert concluded with House of Balloons and Moth to a Flame, with Swedish House Mafia, accompanied by a promise to return to Korea.
The After Hours Til Dawn tour launched in 2022 and has drawn more than 7.5 million attendees worldwide. The Weeknd performs his second show at Goyang Stadium on October 8.
