The White Lotus Season 4: Release Date, Cast, Filming Location & Updates

by Ahmed Hassan - World News Editor

The critically acclaimed anthology series, The White Lotus, is set to return for a fourth season, shifting its focus to the French Riviera. Renewed in January 2025, even before the premiere of its third installment, the show has consistently drawn increasing viewership, with a 51% jump compared to its second season.

A New Locale: Saint-Tropez, France

Following its previous settings in Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, The White Lotus will film its fourth season primarily in Saint-Tropez, France. The chosen location is the Château de La Messardière, a 19th-century palace transformed into a luxury hotel, boasting 32 acres of grounds and offering upscale amenities like Rolls-Royce beach transfers. This marks a departure from the show’s previous practice of filming at Four Seasons resorts, though other scenes are expected to be shot at a hotel in Paris.

Release Date: Anticipating Late 2026 or Early 2027

While an official release date remains unconfirmed, production is slated to begin in April 2026 and conclude by October of the same year. Based on the production timelines of previous seasons – a little over a year between seasons one and two, and over two years between seasons two and three – a release window of late 2026 or early 2027 is anticipated. HBO has reportedly been pressing for a swift return, acknowledging the show’s success and audience demand.

The Cast Takes Shape

As of January 29, 2026, several cast members have been officially announced. Joining the ensemble are Alexander Ludwig, known for his role in Vikings and The Hunger Games; AJ Michalka, recognized from television series like The Goldbergs and iZombie; Helena Bonham Carter, famed for her portrayal of Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter films; Steve Coogan, celebrated for his character Alan Partridge; Caleb Jonte Edwards, with credits in Stranger Things and The Americans; Marissa Long, who has appeared in Better Call Saul, Grey’s Anatomy, and Law & Order; and Chris Messina, known for his roles in Argo and Birds of Prey.

Ludwig and Michalka were the first actors confirmed for the fourth season. Details regarding their specific roles and character arcs remain undisclosed.

Behind the Scenes: A Change in Composition

A notable change for the upcoming season is the departure of composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, who has provided the musical score for the first three seasons. This marks a shift in the show’s sonic landscape as it embarks on its French setting.
