The Cove Theater, a central fixture of the downtown Copperas Cove entertainment scene, will cease operations on May 31, 2026. Owners Andy Remedies and Betina Cash announced the closure in a social media update published on May 5, 2026.
The decision comes as the owners shift their professional focus toward their other business ventures, specifically Main St. Mercantile and Herb & Earnie’s. In their announcement, Remedies and Cash stated that they intend to take advantage of our equity
in those existing businesses.
The theater had been a focal point for live entertainment and community gathering since the owners reopened the downtown venue in November 2021. During its tenure, the establishment became a key component of efforts to revitalize the downtown area of Copperas Cove, a movement that eventually saw the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce establish its location next door to the theater.
In their statement regarding the closure, Remedies and Cash emphasized that the choice was not made hastily.
Downtown Cove is full of potential with amazing business owners and we are proud of the role The Cove Theater played in that.

The owners expressed gratitude to the performers and customers they encountered during their time running the venue, thanking the community for its support over the last five years.
While the current ownership is stepping away, there is a hope that the venue’s legacy as a performance space will continue. Remedies and Cash indicated that they are seeking an interested party to purchase the theater’s equipment and inventory to ensure the business can persist under new leadership.
The announcement prompted various reactions from the local community, highlighting the theater’s role in fostering a specific atmosphere within the city. Community member Conklin Christie noted that the theater provided a small town feel to Copperas Cove and brings the Community together
, expressing hope that a buyer would emerge to maintain that connection.
The closure marks the end of a chapter for a venue that sought to bring diverse live entertainment to the region while sparking economic interest in the downtown district. Until the May 31, 2026 deadline, the owners have encouraged patrons to visit their other nearby establishments, Herb & Earnie’s and Main St. Mercantile.
