Reims Advances to Coupe de France Quarterfinals After 3-0 Victory Over Le Mans

Stade de Reims secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France with a commanding 3-0 victory over Le Mans on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Stade Auguste Delaune in Reims, France. The match saw Belgian midfielder Théo Leoni score twice, marking his first goals for the club.

Leoni opened the scoring in the 38th minute, giving Reims a crucial lead. He doubled the advantage after the break, solidifying Reims’ control of the match. Yassine Benhattab added a third goal in the 83rd minute, sealing the win for Reims with a left-footed shot from the right side of the six-yard box, assisted by Keito Nakamura following a fast break.

The victory comes as Leoni successfully relaunches his career after departing Anderlecht last summer, becoming a key player in manager Karel Geraerts’ system. According to reports, Geraerts is pleased with Leoni’s quick adaptation to the team.

Reims eliminated a significant opponent from Ligue 2 with this win. Having been runners-up in the previous edition of the Coupe de France, the club is demonstrating ambition to go all the way this year. They are the first team to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.

In league play, Reims currently holds the second position in Ligue 2 with 38 points, trailing leader Troyes by three points.

The match saw Reims dominate possession with 54.9% of the ball compared to Le Mans’ 45.1%. Reims also recorded 7 shots on goal from 11 total shot attempts, while Le Mans managed 1 shot on goal from 6 attempts. The game was officiated by Willy Delajod.

Late in the match, in the 92nd minute, a shot from John Patrick of Reims was saved by Ewan Hatfout, the Le Mans goalkeeper. Alexandre Lauray of Le Mans had a free kick attempt go high and wide to the right in the same minute. Yellow cards were issued to Harold Voyer of Le Mans and Hafiz Ibrahim of Reims in the 91st minute.

Other Coupe de France results from the round of 16 include Marseille’s 3-0 victory over Rennes, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring in that match, and Paris FC’s historic 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain. Mason Greenwood also scored a hat trick for Marseille in a 9-0 rout of Bayeux.
