A Matter of Honor and Accuracy
The Thep Sirin Alumni Association, under royal patronage, announced on August 21, 2025, the removal of Royal Vachavasut Prachanat (Alongkot Tikpano) from its list of outstanding alumni. This decision, posted on the association’s Facebook page, stems from a discrepancy regarding his educational history at Thep Sirin School.
The association had been celebrating its 140th anniversary with the selection of distinguished alumni for the Debsirin Hall of Fame. Royal Vachavasut Prachanat was initially recognized as an outstanding student, and his image was featured prominently. Though, subsequent reporting revealed that he had not, actually, graduated from Thep Sirin School.
The Inquiry and Decision
According to a statement released by the association, the selection process for outstanding alumni involved a working group of experts and committee representatives who carefully reviewed qualifications and supporting evidence. The association emphasized that its selection process is designed to ensure accuracy and inspire confidence.
The issue came to light following an interview with Royal Vachavasut prachanat in which he stated he had not attended Thep Sirin School. The association resolute that this information contradicted the basis for his inclusion in the Hall of Fame.As a result, his name has been removed from the list of honorees, and his image has been removed from displays recognizing outstanding alumni.
A Commitment to Integrity
The Thep Sirin Alumni Association has publicly apologized for the error and pledged to use this incident as a “valuable lesson” to improve its vetting process for future honorees. The association stated its intention to maintain the integrity of the honor and the reputation of Thep Sirin School.
