Juventus Coach Thiago Motta Praises Team After Coppa Italia Victory
Juventus coach Thiago Motta expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following their resounding 4-0 Coppa Italia victory over Cagliari.
Speaking to Mediaset after the match, Motta acknowledged the fans’ initial frustration but emphasized the importance of their support. ”We had a good performance tonight,” he said. “The fans are always with us.Sometimes they have the freedom to express their emotions, and we need them.We have to take it game by game and work to our maximum potential. Sometimes we are capable of getting positive results, and sometimes we aren’t, even if we don’t lose. We have the level to put in good performances, especially with the return of players like Nico Gonzalez. Together with the others who are always playing, they will help raise the level.”
Motta also praised the performance of midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, who played despite battling illness. “he did well, then he came out because he was playing with the flu,” Motta explained. “he played 60 minutes, helping the team and showing his professionalism. All the others also put in a great performance.”
When asked about Koopmeiners’ versatility, Motta highlighted the player’s adaptability. “I like him wherever he plays, that’s why he plays. He has technique, physical and mental qualities. The team works because he’s on the field and playing well. He can do everything; in Holland, he played in multiple positions. The vital thing is to have him fit; he’s a top player.”
Motta also discussed the potential future roles of Manuel Locatelli and Kenan Yildiz.”If there weren’t injuries, we wouldn’t have needed to play Manu at the back,” he said. “In an emergency, it’s important to have him in different positions. He’s intelligent and has good reading of the game. He’s convinced he can do well as a center-back, and Kenan has a wonderful present and future. As a winger, he can beat his man, and as an attacking midfielder, he’s very creative. They give us alternatives to create, depending on how I see them and the opponent.”
