Thibau Nys Wins in Tábor,Echoing Father Sven’s Victory 10 Years Prior

Thibau Nys,23,achieved a dominant solo victory in the UCI Cyclocross‌ World⁢ cup in Tábor,Czech Republic,almost exactly ten years after⁢ his father,Sven Nys,won his final World‍ cup race in Koksijde.

Sven Nys, a nine-time Belgian​ national champion and two-time world champion, ⁢watched as his son replicated his ⁢success. Thibau, who won his first Belgian championship last year, ‌paid tribute to his father by wearing a ⁣matching helmet and similar ⁤glasses to ‍the kit Sven⁤ wore in 2012 while sporting the iconic ‍Belgian national colours.

nys took the lead on the second lap in the‍ icy conditions, leaving his competitors behind. After crossing the⁣ finish⁤ line, he embraced his father.

“I had a very ⁤good day,” Nys ⁣said. ‌”With that stunning helmet too. It was 10 years ago, that dad won his last world Cup.So it all ⁣went very ⁤fast. ⁣To ride the whole cross in this jersey​ today, with ​such a helmet. That’s great. I ‌enjoyed‍ it immensely.”

The matching kit was a surprise from thibau to his father. Sven Nys explained ⁤to Belgian broadcaster ⁤Sporza that his son secretly had ‌the helmet made and found a similar‌ pair of glasses to recreate the ​look from⁢ 2012.
