CBS Sports Host Kate Abdo Marries Former Boxer Malik Scott
CBS Sports host Kate Abdo has tied the knot with former boxer Malik Scott. The 43-year-old host went public with her relationship with Scott in March this year.
The couple has now married in an intimate ceremony, with Abdo pictured in an elegant white dress and Scott in a black patterned suit.
In an Instagram post announcing her marriage, Abdo wrote: ‘I thank God for this gift. Thank you Malik King Scott for changing my life. Thank you for bringing me so much love, happiness, fulfillment, peace and joy. Being your wife is the greatest blessing to me.’
‘I want to love, sing, dance and laugh with you forever. Your lifelong journey with you is all I pray for. You and our family are always together.’
In his announcement post, Scott wrote: ‘Proverbs 31:10-12… Thank you, God, my vow will live on until the end of my time.’
‘Kate Abdo, happy birthday, baby. The most perfect day of my life was our wedding day. Words can’t describe how much I love you. Days have passed and forever has. #themostperfectdayofmylife.’
News of Abdo’s marriage led to jokes among fans disparaging Thierry Henry. During CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage, Abdo and Henry showed great chemistry on screen.
And because of this, viewers often joked that the former Arsenal striker, who is married to Andrea Rayacic, had a crush on the presenter.
Abdo and Scott’s announcement was met with immediate outpouring of concern from fans for the French World Cup winners.
One user wrote on X: ‘My condolences and prayers to Thierry Henry during this difficult time.’
In March, Scott issued a warning to former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher for making an on-air joke about Abdo during a live broadcast on CBS Sports.
‘It’s not just that she’s one of the greatest sports broadcasters, it’s that she’s one of the greatest human beings I’ve ever met in the world,’ Scott said.
‘I really love her and I plan to marry her. What happened with Jamie is part of my job, but it’s not the first time he’s said something like that, but it’s the first time he’s mentioned it as potentially disrupting the chemistry of a family or a couple.’
‘I think Jamie apologized not just to Kate but to the whole team. And one thing you can’t do is belittle someone who admits they did something wrong. I have a lot of respect for him for that.’
Abdo later revealed that Carragher apologized for his comments.
