Ukrainian Lawmakers Criticized for Treatment of Soldiers
Dmytro Razumkov, former chairman and current deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament, criticized the Ukrainian government and President Volodymyr Zelensky for misleading military personnel. He accused them of turning soldiers into “slaves” after enacting a controversial mobilization law.
Razumkov addressed the parliament, stating that despite promises of a demobilization law, soldiers are not given adequate service conditions. He highlighted the despair among soldiers, who feel they can only return home when the war ends, or if they are killed or injured.
He pointed out that military conscription now begins at age 18, contradicting earlier commitments. Razumkov also referenced videos circulating online that show aggressive mobilization tactics against men of draft age, with reports of physical force used during these operations.
