At the 2026 China Cycle show, the Evolve Cima has emerged as a significant development in high-performance cycling hardware, achieving a total build weight of 4.9kg, or 10.8 pounds. This weight puts the bicycle in the category of hill-climb specialty bikes, a segment typically reserved for extreme weight-saving measures.
The bicycle’s low mass is driven by a combination of a lightweight frame and a new, unreleased wheelset. The Cima frame, in a medium size and unpainted, weighs 650g. According to reporting from AAP, the frame is constructed using T1100 carbon, a high-end material frequently utilized by Western brands for their top-tier models.
The build incorporates the Elite Wheels Ultra 40D, a new variation of an existing wheelset. Elite Wheels, a sister brand to Evolve that shares the same factory, has quoted a weight of 990g for the Ultra 40D. While the wheelset is not yet available for sale, the expected price is $2,000.
Technical Specifications and Componentry
Beyond the carbon fiber construction, the Evolve Cima includes several high-specification components designed for precision and speed. The headset features CeramicSpeed bearings, and the bike utilizes a threaded bottom bracket.

The Cima is engineered to accommodate a wide range of riders, with availability in six different sizes for individuals ranging from 146cm to 202cm in height. The model also offers two different fork options to further customize performance.
It looks legit — super light, uses top-end T1100 carbon which is the same as what you get in a lot of super high-end bikes from western brands, CeramicSpeed bearings in the headset, a threaded bottom bracket, and a beautiful paint job. It’s ticking a lot of boxes.

Market Positioning and Competitive Pricing
A primary focus of the Evolve Cima and the Elite Wheels Ultra 40D is the aggressive pricing strategy aimed at undercutting Western competitors. Velo, reporting for Outside Magazine on May 13, 2026, noted that the projected $2,000 price for the Ultra 40D wheelset is more than half the cost of the Zipp 202 NSW, despite the Elite Wheels model being lighter.
The overall build of the Cima is positioned to offer a superbike experience at a price point thousands of dollars lower than comparable offerings from major Western brands. This trend highlights a shift in the high-end bicycle market where Chinese manufacturers are leveraging advanced materials like T1100 carbon to compete directly with established luxury performance brands on both weight and cost.
The ability to reach a sub-5kg build weight without employing radical modifications, such as removing components from the handlebars, indicates a maturation in the manufacturing processes used by Evolve and Elite Wheels. By pairing a 650g frame with sub-1kg wheels, the Cima targets the most demanding hill-climb specifications while maintaining a pricing structure that challenges the current industry standard for super-lightweight equipment.
