Adidas has reintroduced its iconic Boost technology in a new super trainer model designed specifically for marathon training, marking a significant evolution in the brand’s approach to performance footwear for serious runners.
The Adidas Hyperboost Edge features an updated midsole formulation called Hyperboost Pro, which builds upon the original eTPU Boost compound that revolutionized running shoe technology when it debuted in 2013. After years of being largely relegated to lifestyle use due to the rise of carbon-plated super shoes, this new formulation aims to restore Boost’s relevance in performance training contexts.
To evaluate the shoe’s real-world performance, a tester logged over 70 miles in the Hyperboost Edge during marathon preparation, including long runs of 20, 16, and 14 miles. This extended trial period allowed for a thorough assessment of the shoe’s durability, comfort, and performance across varied training intensities.
The tester reported that the updated foam delivered a noticeable improvement in energy return and plush comfort compared to earlier versions of Boost technology. The shoe was described as light and comfortable, with a fun new foam feel that maintained durability even after substantial mileage accumulation.
