El Paso is preparing for a major influx of visitors as BTS prepares to perform two concerts at the Sun Bowl Stadium on May 2 and May 3, 2026. Officials expect 50,000 fans each night, prompting extensive coordination among event planners, logistics crews and law enforcement to ensure safety and smooth operations.
The University of Texas at El Paso has released a comprehensive fan guide detailing parking, ticketing, and venue policies for the concerts. General ticket holders will be allowed to line up starting at 3 p.m., with general doors opening at 5:30 p.m., while VIP ticket holders may begin lining up at 10 a.m. The guide also outlines the availability of service booths inside and outside the stadium, including BTS official merchandise, cooling stations, medical stations, restrooms, and free water stations.
A dedicated Fan Plaza will be located at the North Gate, where vehicles will not be permitted. This space will feature water stations, food trucks, DJs, medical and information booths, and merchandise stands. Merchandise booths will also be set up at Glory Field, Miner Alley, Don Haskins Center, and the SB7 parking lot, with some opening as early as April 30.
In addition to the BTS concerts, El Paso will host several other events over the same weekend, including El Paso Comic Con at the Convention Center from May 1 to 3, the inaugural Sol Summit festival in Downtown, and Michelada Fest at Ascarate Park. Post Malone is scheduled to perform at the Sun Bowl less than two weeks after the BTS shows.
Authorities have issued warnings to fans attempting to watch the concerts without tickets by climbing the Franklin Mountains surrounding the Sun Bowl Stadium. Jorge Vazquez, executive director of the UTEP Office of Special Events, emphasized that such behavior is dangerous due to loose rock and steep terrain, and will not be tolerated. Security and law enforcement personnel will monitor the perimeter, and individuals found in restricted areas may face trespassing charges.
Vazquez reiterated the importance of attending the events with a ticket and enjoying the performances safely inside the stadium. “We want to make sure everybody comes in with a ticket and they have a great time inside the Sun Bowl,” he said, adding that dedicated staff will be deployed to enforce access policies.
The BTS performances are part of the group’s 2026 tour, drawing international attention to El Paso as a host city for major K-pop events. Local officials continue to coordinate preparations to accommodate the anticipated crowds while maintaining public safety and minimizing disruptions to residents.
