FRISCO, ‌Texas – The Dallas Cowboys are revamping their running back group, hoping new additions Javonte williams and ⁤Miles Sanders ⁤can spark the team’s rushing attack under the direction of head coach Brian Schottenheimer and offensive coordinator Klayton Adams. Both runners have demonstrated potential​ in the past‌ and seek a fresh start in Dallas.

Sanders,in particular,aims to recapture his Pro Bowl⁢ form from 2022 with the Philadelphia Eagles,a season where he rushed for more than 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns.⁣ His two-year stint in⁣ Carolina yielded a combined 637 rushing yards and three⁢ touchdowns, leaving him visibly frustrated.

Regarding his time in Carolina,‍ Sanders stated, These last two years, I really don’t have much to ‍say. I would say that I handled⁤ the situation ‌as best I could. There were many things outside⁣ my control that I didn’t want to talk about, so I’ll leave it there.

In Carolina, Sanders ​shared carries with Chuba Hubbard, ‍with ⁤Hubbard seeing increased usage ⁤in 2024, limiting Sanders to just ⁣55​ carries⁤ across 11 games.

Reflecting on his recent seasons, Sanders said,⁤ Without a doubt, a learning experience; you have to control what⁤ can ⁤be controlled. I⁤ think⁣ I have taken the ⁤most of this‌ situation with the letters that have touched me. There are many things out of⁤ my ​control, but I am lucky ⁤to continue in the situation in which I am and have another possibility to shine.

Sanders,⁤ a Pennsylvania ​native, acknowledges the adjustment to playing in Dallas, especially after spending his⁢ first ‍four‍ NFL seasons with the rival Eagles.

While Sanders hasn’t delved deeply into the offensive strategy with Schottenheimer and Adams, he understands the emphasis will be on the running game. Adams’s experience‍ with the⁣ offensive line is seen as a ‍significant asset ‍for the Dallas offense.

The offensive plan ‌is to bet on the‍ race, Sanders said. There are not‍ many places where the offensive coordinator is an offensive line coach, ​and I know he is playing an vital role​ in‍ the plan; I am excited.

The Cowboys’ backfield is currently slated to feature Sanders and Williams in 2025. Although they haven’t played together, Sanders has followed Williams’ career since his time at North Carolina.

I⁣ still ‍don’t know him in person, but I definitely saw his game​ and I⁣ am ⁢a fan of him; I also​ saw him at the ⁣university, Sanders said. I am very​ excited ‍to work with him, explore his mind and see ⁢how he sees things. I am always‍ learning, no matter how ⁤long ⁢it has been in the league, I am excited.

Sanders will reunite with his former Penn State teammate, Micah Parsons, in Dallas.They played together for one season, leaving a lasting impression on Sanders.
