Two Disturbing Incidents Highlight Urgent Need for Child Protection
India is reeling from two shocking cases of child sexual assault, sparking outrage and demands for increased protection of children.
In Uttar Pradesh, eight individuals, including three boys aged 6 to 7, have been booked for the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl. The incident occurred at an anganwadi, a government-run childcare center, in Basti district.
Harraiya Police Circle Officer Sanjay Singh confirmed the arrests, stating that the accused face charges under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
according to the victim’s mother, the young girl was molested while alone at the anganwadi on Thursday evening. When her cries for help attracted other children, the boys fled. The mother alleges that when she confronted the boys’ parents, she was physically assaulted.
The victim has undergone a medical examination, and police are investigating the case.
Another Tragedy in Maharashtra
In a separate, equally disturbing incident, a 54-year-old man has been arrested in Pune, Maharashtra, for the alleged sexual assault and murder of two sisters, aged 8 and 9.
ajay Das, a cook from West Bengal, was apprehended by police as he attempted to flee the city. Authorities believe Das, who lived near the victims’ family, first assaulted the younger sister. when the elder sister went to find her, he attacked her as well. Both girls were later found dead in a water drum near their home.
“Das has been booked for rape and murder,” a senior police official stated.
These horrific incidents have sent shockwaves through India, highlighting the urgent need for stronger measures to protect children from sexual violence.
