Bangkok, Thailand – A devastating fire ripped thru the Ember Hotel near Bangkok’s vibrant Khao San Road Sunday night, tragically killing three foreign tourists and injuring several others. the inferno, which erupted around 9:21 p.m. local time, sent shockwaves through the popular tourist district.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt confirmed that approximately 40 people where inside the six-story hotel when the blaze broke out.
“Several individuals were rescued from the roof using fire department ladders,” Sittipunt saeid.
Tragically, a foreign woman was found deceased in a fifth-floor room. Two other foreign men, who sustained severe injuries, later succumbed to their wounds at a nearby hospital.
Seven others were injured in the inferno, including Thai nationals, citizens of Japan, Germany, and China. Their conditions are currently unknown.
Governor Sittipunt assured the public that firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.He has ordered the hotel to remain closed pending a thorough safety inspection.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to have originated in a fifth-floor hotel room.
