Three Injured in Salem Car Crash Decline Treatment
Teen Driver Cited After Crash Sends car Spinning in Downtown Salem
Salem, OR - A two-car collision at the intersection of North Broadway and Schwartz Street Monday afternoon left three people shaken but thankfully unharmed.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. when a 17-year-old Salem boy, driving southbound on Schwartz Street, failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle traveling eastbound on North Broadway. The teen’s car struck the rear of the eastbound vehicle, causing it to spin around.
The eastbound vehicle was driven by 63-year-old Karl Knight of Salem. His passenger was identified as 58-year-old Joyce Knight.
Salem Police responded to the scene and evaluated all three individuals involved. Despite the impact, none required transportation to a hospital.
The juvenile driver was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.

Salem, OR – A Monday afternoon fender bender in Downtown Salem left three individuals shaken but unharmed. the collision, occurring around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of North broadway and Schwartz Street, involved a 17-year-old Salem boy and a vehicle driven by 63-year-old Karl Knight, also of Salem.
According to police reports, the teen, driving southbound on Schwartz Street, failed to yield the right of way to Mr. Knight’s eastbound vehicle on North Broadway. The impact sent Mr. Knight’s car spinning.
Mr. Knight’s passenger, identified as 58-year-old Joyce Knight, was also present during the incident.
Salem Police responded to the scene and assessed all individuals involved. Fortunately, none required medical attention.
The teen driver received a citation for failing to yield the right of way at an intersection.
