Mexico City, September 21 (AS México).- On September 20, 2024, the Cuauhtémoc Stadium witnessed an exciting game between Puebla and Pachuca, corresponding to Day 9 of the 2024 Inaugural Tournament of the Liga Mx. The “Tuzos” took the victory with a score of 3-2 in a contest full of excitement and goals, with Nelson Deossa as a key figure in the game by scoring two goals which sealed the victory for the visitors.
The Game
Pachuca started with the initiative and with the intention of dominating from the first minutes. The reward came for the visitors in the 13th minute when Salomon Rondon, the Venezuelan striker, overtook the “Tuzos”. In a crafty play, Rondón took advantage of a precise cross from the wing and finished powerfully, leaving the local goalkeeper with no options. Miguel Jimenez. The goal gave confidence to the visiting team, who began to control the game more.
The “Fringe”, however, reacted quickly. At minute 19, Emiliano Gómez equalized the score. The Argentinian striker, known for his aerial prowess, connected with a precise header after a cross from the right wing and thus surpassed Carlos Moreno, the Hidalgo goalkeeper. At 1-1, the game was even and both teams showed their willingness to go for the win.
Pachuca continued with high pressure and it was in the 37th minute when Nelson Deossa appeared to return the advantage to his team. The Colombian took advantage of a defensive oversight from Puebla and, from outside the area, took a powerful shot that beat Silva. The 1-2 in favor of the “Tuzos” put more pressure on the home team, who needed a response before the break.
The Second Half
The second half started with Puebla looking for parity again. The host team did not stop demanding and, on minute 60, Emiliano Gómez appeared again to score his second goal of the night. Once again, the Argentinian striker took advantage of his excellent position in the area to finish strongly and make the score 2-2, which sparked hope among the local fans.
However, the response to the visit was fatal. On minute 72, Nelson Deossa scored his second goal of the night to crown a great personal performance. In a quick counterattack play, the Colombian stood in front of Puebla’s goalkeeper and finished quietly to seal the final 2-3. This goal was a hard blow for those led by José Manuel “Chepo” de la Torre, because, despite their efforts, they were unable to find the tying goal in the final minutes of the game.
Atlas Suffers its Second Back
Atlas has begun to suffer. The 3-0 defeat they suffered last Tuesday against América left Beñat San José’s side shaken and unable to recover on Friday. The Zorros received a visit from Querétaro at the Jalisco Stadium, one of the worst teams so far in the Apertura 2024 Tournament But an early goal was enough to end the hopes of the red and black team, who ended up losing 1-0.
Things soon got complicated for the “Foxes”. Only minute three was being played, when the Gallos Blancos launched their offensive down the right side. The center went into the heart of the area, where the defense failed to clear. The round was left loose in the danger zone. Federico Lertora turned the aerial ball on, with power and positioning. Impossible for the Colombian Camilo Vargas. The networks shook very soon with the visitor’s 1-0.
