Rooftop Standoff: Man Causes Damage, Injures Officers in ‘Appalling’ Incident

A man caused significant disruption and narrowly avoided serious injury to police officers during a rooftop standoff, a court has heard. Police were called to the property after reports of a disturbance. The situation quickly escalated when the man, identified as Murray, attempted to engage with a woman inside the building. He then proceeded to move across the roof, running between the apex and a flat roof area.

In a dangerous attempt to gain entry, Murray tried to “swing” into a window. However, the force of his weight caused the window to slam shut, resulting in damage. He was instantly attended to by ambulance services due to injuries sustained during the attempt.

The court heard that police officers faced both direct assaults and the threat of assault during the incident.While some officers sustained cuts and bruises, it was noted that the use of shields was crucial in preventing more serious harm.
