Thunder Rosa Challenges athena for ROH Women’s Title at Supercard of Honor

A high-stakes Ring of Honor Women’s title match is looming as Thunder Rosa, former AEW Women’s World Champion, has challenged the current ROH women’s Champion, Athena. The ROH Women’s title match is tentatively scheduled for the ROH Supercard of Honor event on Friday, July 11, at the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
rosa issued the challenge via social media Thursday. As of late Thursday, Athena had not formally responded. However, a response was anticipated during Thursday night’s ROH x CMLL Global Wars broadcast, which featured a tag team match from the previous week showcasing Athena and ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet against Rosa and Persephone.
The two wrestlers, Thunder Rosa and Athena, also recently participated in a four-way match on AEW Dynamite to determine the first entrant in the women’s Casino Gauntlet for AEW All In: Texas on July 12. Prior to that,they were part of an eight-woman tag team match during last Saturday’s AEW Collision,where Velvet’s interference impacted the outcome for Rosa’s team.
If the match is confirmed, rosa will be vying for her first ROH gold. Meanwhile, Athena is nearing a milestone of 1,000 days as ROH Women’s Champion.
