President Donald Trump will grant tiktok’s parent company, ByteDance, a 90-day extension to find a U.S. buyer for the popular social media platform.The White House announced the move Tuesday, citing ongoing national security considerations.
The executive order, expected to be signed this week, allows TikTok, wich boasts approximately 170 million users in the U.S.,to continue operating despite a bipartisan law designed to address potential security risks. The law mandates that ByteDance, based in Beijing, divest TikTok to a non-Chinese entity or face a nationwide ban.
