A man police have nicknamed the “TikTok Trickster” has been extradited to Baldwin County, Alabama and is facing increased bond and additional felony charges after allegedly using the social media platform to carry out romance scams targeting women across multiple states.
Brenton Fillers, 57, was returned to Baldwin County on Friday, April 24, 2026, after being located in North Carolina earlier in the year. Authorities say he used TikTok and numerous aliases to build romantic relationships with women online, then persuaded them to hand over money, vehicles, and other valuables under false pretenses.
A judge raised Fillers’ bond from $7,500 to $25,000 cash after Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber cited concerns that Fillers could quickly convince someone to post bond and flee. Barber also pointed to Fillers’ criminal history, use of dozens of aliases, and a pattern of failing to appear in court as reasons for the increase.
Fillers is now charged with four felonies, including allegations that he stole $2,000 and a debit card from a woman in West Virginia while they were staying at a Daphne hotel. Investigators say these accusations predate a 2023 case in Spanish Fort, where a woman reported that Fillers offered to repair her vehicle but never returned it after taking it for service.
Victims have described similar patterns in their relationships with Fillers. One woman in Indiana told investigators she gave him more than $30,000 over a 10-month period, believing the funds were needed for treatments for a bleeding ulcer and brain cancer. She said Fillers used gaslighting and love-bombing tactics to manipulate her.
A woman in Missouri reported that Fillers took approximately $1,500 from her before disappearing. Another victim in Texas said he allegedly stole her rental car, credit cards, and a wad of cash shortly before leaving the state.
Police say Fillers moved frequently between states and used social media platforms — particularly TikTok — along with numerous aliases to establish trust with women online. Investigators say he would initiate contact through the platform, develop romantic relationships, and then exploit those connections for financial gain.
Spanish Fort Police Department began pursuing Fillers in 2023 after a victim reported her vehicle was taken under the pretense of repairs. The case remained active as additional victims came forward from Indiana, Missouri, Texas, and West Virginia, leading to his eventual location in North Carolina and extradition to Alabama.
Authorities continue to investigate and encourage any additional victims to come forward. Baldwin County Corrections Center is currently holding Fillers as he awaits further proceedings on the felony charges.
