A man known to law enforcement as the “TikTok Trickster” has been returned to Baldwin County, Alabama, after extradition from North Carolina, where he was being held on fugitive warrants related to a series of alleged scams targeting women across multiple states.

Brenton Fillers was transferred from North Carolina and booked into the Baldwin County Jail on Friday, according to jail records cited by local news outlets. He faces two counts of illegal possession of a credit card and theft of property in Baldwin County stemming from an incident in 2023 in which authorities say he took a local woman’s vehicle under false pretenses and did not return it.

Spanish Fork police have been investigating Fillers since 2023, alleging he used social media and dating platforms to gain victims’ trust before deceiving them out of money, credit cards, and vehicles. Investigators say he has used dozens of aliases over several decades and operated across state lines, with victims coming forward from Indiana and other states.

One woman from Indiana told FOX10 News she met a man she believed to be Fillers on a dating app in January 2025, who introduced himself as “Jason Aldridge.” Over a 10-month relationship, she said she sent him more than $30,000 through money-transfer apps including Venmo, believing his claims of medical emergencies such as a bleeding ulcer and brain cancer.

Another victim in Spanish Fort said she believed Fillers was taking her car to be repaired but never got it back. She shared a voicemail he allegedly left after the vehicle disappeared: “I love you. I hope you do, too. I don’t want you mad at me over a freaking car.” She said she thought she was doing the right thing but later realized she had been deceived.

Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber said Fillers’ alleged pattern involved building relationships through online platforms and exploiting emotional vulnerabilities to obtain funds and property. Authorities say the case has drawn attention across state lines due to the number of reported victims and the longevity of the alleged scheme.

Prior to his arrest in January 2026, Fillers had been on the run since November 2024. Court records from Wake County, North Carolina show his bond was reduced from $500,000 to $100,000 in March 2026, and his case was reset for April proceedings. He was arrested in January after more than a year evading law enforcement, during which time he was held in Texas on an aggravated child sexual abuse charge that was later dropped.

Fillers was released from Texas before Alabama authorities could place a hold on him, allowing him to continue moving between states. Spanish Fort police say the extradition process to return him to Baldwin County is now underway, and he is expected to face trial on the pending charges related to the 2023 incident.

The case highlights how individuals can exploit digital platforms and personal relationships to conduct fraud across jurisdictional boundaries, complicating efforts by local law enforcement to track and apprehend suspects who operate nationally through social media and dating apps.
