New Zealand equestrian Tim Price has secured a silver medal at the 2026 Mars Badminton Horse Trials, marking one of the most significant results of his career.
Competing aboard Falco, Price achieved the podium finish on Monday, May 11, 2026, following a series of strong performances across the different phases of the event.
Price began the competition in 10th place following the opening day of dressage. He improved his standing to sixth place during the cross country phase before completing a clear round in the showjumping phase to claim the silver medal.
This result comes eight years after Price won the Burghley Horse Trials in 2018.
The achievement was reached despite a significant physical setback. Price competed throughout the event with a broken collarbone resulting from a biking injury, a condition he attempted to keep private before the trials began.
Price, 46, attributes his success and passion for the sport to his early life in New Zealand. He grew up on a family-run horse stud in Oxford, Canterbury, alongside his parents and two brothers.
Describing the family block, which spanned approximately 50 acres, Price stated, We had a small horse stud, 50 acres odd in Oxford, and there were horses coming out our ears,
adding that I was working with horses young and old, and it was very normal to be dealing with horses every day.
The foundation provided by the family stud led Price into pony club, show jumping, and eventing competitions, which eventually guided his professional trajectory toward the global equestrian stage.
International Experience and Partnership
A three-time Olympian, Price now resides in Dorset, England. He lives on a farm featuring high-quality equestrian facilities.
Down here in Dorset we’re in the middle of nowhere. It’s a beautiful farm with an excellent equestrian facility, owned by a great man who puts a lot into this estate,
Tim Price
Price is part of a prominent equestrian couple; his wife, Jonelle, also competes for New Zealand at the highest level of three-day eventing.
Jonelle was the first of the pair to represent New Zealand at the Olympics, appearing at the 2012 Games in London. Since then, the couple has represented the country together at the Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Price noted that the significance of the silver medal at Badminton has only begun to sink in a few days after the conclusion of the event.
