Trump Named Time’s ‘Person of the Year’ for Second Time
Former President Donald Trump has been named Time magazine’s “Person of the year” for 2024,marking the second time he has received the honor.
The magazine announced the selection on X,formerly known as Twitter, citing Trump’s “historic comeback” and his continued influence on American politics.
“for leading a comeback of historic proportions, driving a political realignment unique in a generation, reshaping the American presidency, and altering America’s role in the world, Donald Trump is TIME’s 2024 Person of the Year,” the magazine stated.Sam Jacobs, Time’s editor-in-chief, explained on X that choosing this year’s “Person of the Year” was straightforward.
“Since announcing his candidacy in 2015, perhaps no individual has played a more meaningful role in changing the course of politics and history than Trump,” Jacobs wrote.
Jacobs acknowledged Trump’s unexpected 2016 victory and his tumultuous presidency, which included navigating the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide protests. He also referenced Trump’s loss in the 2020 election by over 7 million votes and the subsequent January 6th attack on the U.S.Capitol.
“Many believed we had witnessed the end of Trump,” Jacobs admitted, acknowledging the widespread miscalculation.
This is the second time Trump has been named Time’s “Person of the Year,” having previously received the distinction in 2016.

Professor Carter: It’s my pleasure to be here.
NewsDirectory3.com: This is Mr. Trump’s second time receiving this distinction from Time Magazine, the frist being in 2016. How impactful is this selection, given the context of his 2020 election loss and the subsequent events?
Professor Carter: It’s undeniably notable. Time’s choice to name Donald Trump ”Person of the Year” once again, despite the controversies and divisions surrounding his presidency and his role in the January 6th Capitol attack, highlights his undeniable influence on the American political landscape.
