Texas Residents Have One Month Left to Apply for Federal Aid After Hurricane Beryl
Texas residents who suffered damage from Hurricane Beryl have one month left to apply for federal aid. The deadline is October 10, 2024.
Since the disaster was declared in July, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has helped nearly 673,700 Texas households with $704.7 million in financial assistance. FEMA specialists are working in 22 counties to help people apply for assistance.
FEMA workers have visited 174,203 homes and 9,285 public places. More than 45,000 residents have visited 42 disaster recovery centers around the state. Over 26,100 families who cannot return home are staying in hotels at the expense of the state and FEMA.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved $2.478 million in low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, private nonprofits, and businesses impacted by Hurricane Beryl.

How to Apply for FEMA Assistance
There are several ways for Texans to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance:
- Visit DisasterAssistance.gov for internet access.
- Download the FEMA app for your mobile device.
- Call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. The hotline is available in multiple languages. If you use relay services, such as Video Relay (VRS), captioned telephone, or other services, please provide FEMA with your number to access that service.
- Visit a Disaster Recovery Center. To find a center location closest to you, visit fema.gov/drc. The Disaster Recovery Center operates from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Saturday and is closed on Sundays.

Low-Interest Disaster Loans from the SBA
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offers low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, private nonprofits, and businesses of all sizes. Applicants can apply online and receive more disaster loans at SBA.gov/disaster or call 800-659-2955. SBA representatives are available to provide one-on-one assistance to disaster loan applicants at disaster recovery centers throughout the affected areas.
