Titirangi Footpath Issues – Locals Demand Repairs
Titirangi Resident Calls for Urgent Footpath Repairs After Fall
A Titirangi resident is urging Auckland Transport (AT) to address the deteriorating state of local footpaths after a fall left her with a fractured wrist. The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, expressed frustration that her pleas for maintenance have gone unanswered for years, highlighting a common issue in the area.
A Painful Fall and a Plea for Action
The incident occurred on a slippery, uneven footpath, a condition the resident described as “common” in Titirangi. “I would just like them to be fixed so no one ends up in the same situation I was in, because its not fun,” she stated, emphasizing the need for AT to implement longer-term maintenance strategies.
“It desperately needs someone to come out, walk down the street, find the areas that are damaged and fix it,” she urged. “But also, to look at a long-term maintenance plan to make sure that this doesn’t keep happening.”
Auckland Transport Responds to Concerns
An AT spokesperson confirmed they had received photos of the footpaths from a concerned community member. However, they noted that specific locations were not provided. “We are currently working through this to find the locations, make assessments, and then plan our next steps to fix the issues,” the spokesperson said.
AT reiterated their commitment to carrying out maintenance as and when required, emphasizing the importance of public input. “We do rely on support from the public who can definitely help us with specific reports of problems they encounter,” they advised.
Residents are encouraged to report specific footpath issues by calling the AT call center at 09 355 353 or by using their web service link. This ensures that urgent issues can be addressed promptly by dispatching contractors, while other repairs can be assessed and prioritized for future works.
