The Norwegian Luna cruise ship, the latest addition to Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima Plus class, has entered service with a focus on innovative onboard experiences designed to attract families and leisure travelers seeking more than traditional cruise offerings.

Launched in 2026, the Norwegian Luna features a 1,056-foot length and a double-occupancy capacity of 3,565 guests, supported by a crew of 1,597. The ship is notable for its hull artwork, created by California-based street artist Elle, who also serves as the ship’s godmother. The design features hand-painted lilac clouds and waves forming a constellation-themed motif intended to reflect the connection between sea and sky.

A central attraction aboard the Norwegian Luna is the Aqua Slidecoaster, described as the world’s first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide. The ride combines elements of a traditional rollercoaster with water slide dynamics, allowing guests to experience both thrills in a single attraction. The feature is positioned as a key differentiator for the vessel in a competitive cruise market.

The ship also includes Ocean Boulevard, an open-air promenade that wraps around Deck 8 and features a large silver crescent moon sculpture. This installation includes a selfie button that captures photos and video of guests, with options for cinematic angles sourced from the ship’s bridge. The video can be downloaded via the NCL app for a fee.

Onboard entertainment includes ELTON: A Celebration of Elton John™, a production that presents the musician’s hit music in a stylized, high-energy format. The show is part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s broader strategy to integrate branded, performance-based experiences into its ships’ programming.

Dining options are highlighted through venues such as Onda by Scarpetta and Indulge Food Hall, the latter described as a flexible dining space where guests can “plot the course” of their meals. The ship operates without fixed dining times, formal nights, or strict dress codes beyond requiring dry swimwear in certain buffet areas, reflecting Norwegian Cruise Line’s ongoing emphasis on freestyle cruising.

The Norwegian Luna is positioned as a sister ship to the Norwegian Aqua, which launched in the prior year. Both vessels belong to the Prima Plus class, an evolution of NCL’s Prima series aimed at enhancing guest capacity and experience variety. The line continues to invest in distinctive design and entertainment to strengthen its market position amid growing competition in the premium cruise segment.

As of April 2026, the Norwegian Luna is conducting Caribbean sailings from PortMiami, with itineraries targeting families and travelers interested in active, experience-driven vacations. The ship’s combination of artistic hull design, adrenaline-focused rides and entertainment programming reflects Norwegian Cruise Line’s broader effort to differentiate its fleet through innovation rather than scale alone.
