Foogiano has been released from prison after serving five years for a firearm violation and probation breach, according to multiple sources confirmed on April 21, 2026.
The rapper, whose legal name is Kwame Khalil Brown, was sentenced in May 2021 after being arrested in Memphis on charges related to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He had initially been granted a $50,000 bond but violated the terms of his release by removing his court-ordered ankle monitor, which led to the five-year sentence.
News of his release spread through social media, including a widely circulated image shared by No Jumper showing Foogiano smiling and displaying his grillz. His producer, SpiffoMadeIt, confirmed the development on Instagram Story with a selfie and the caption “No More Free Foo,” while his personal photographer wrote, “Stay free welcome home Foo.”
Foogiano is one of the last two artists remaining on Gucci Mane’s 1017 Global label, alongside Pooh Shiesty, after Gucci Mane announced in October 2024 that he would be purging the roster. At the time, Gucci Mane stated he planned to keep only Pooh Shiesty and Foogiano under contract, calling it an “unselfish decision” to let other artists pursue opportunities elsewhere.
The timing of Foogiano’s release coincides with renewed legal scrutiny of the 1017 label. Earlier in April 2026, Pooh Shiesty was arrested in connection with an alleged incident involving kidnapping and robbery, which prosecutors claim stemmed from an attempt to exit a contract tied to the label. Gucci Mane also released a track titled “Crash Dummy,” which many interpreted as referencing the allegations, with lyrics stating, “Tell the truth, you went out like a real crash dummy, and after all that, boy, you still signed to me.”
Foogiano’s release marks the end of a multi-year absence from public life that began with his 2021 arrest. His return has drawn attention from fans and industry observers, with some expressing anticipation for new music and others questioning how his time away may have shaped his future direction.
