TMC Leader Gunned Down in Broad Daylight,Sparking Outrage in West Bengal
Malda,West Bengal – A wave of shock and grief has swept through west Bengal following the brazen daylight murder of Dulal Sarkar,a prominent Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and councillor,in Malda district. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has sent ripples through the state’s political landscape, with Chief minister Mamata Banerjee demanding swift justice.
Sarkar, affectionately known as “babla,” was a longtime associate of Banerjee and a dedicated party worker. he was on his way to his factory after leaving the TMC party office when four assailants on two motorcycles ambushed him, firing four rounds. Sarkar was hit by three bullets and succumbed to his injuries.
The brazen nature of the attack has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation. banerjee,visibly shaken,lashed out at Malda District police Superintendent Pradeep Kumar Yadav,holding him responsible for the lapse in security that led to Sarkar’s death.
“Our councilor in Malda has been killed today due to the lackadaisical approach of the district police superintendent,” Banerjee stated during an administrative review meeting. “He used to have security cover, which was later withdrawn. This is a clear lapse on the part of the police.Babla was with me as the beginning.”
Taking to social media platform X, Banerjee described Sarkar as her “close associate” and confirmed his murder. “My close associate, and a very popular leader, babla Sarkar has been murdered today,” she wrote. “From the beginning of the Trinamool congress, he (and his wife Chaitali Sarkar) worked hard for the party, and Babla was also elected a councillor. I am sad and hugely shocked after knowing about the incident. The culprits must be booked promptly.”
Banerjee expressed her condolences to Sarkar’s family, especially his wife chaitali, and prayed for her strength during this challenging time.
TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee also weighed in, urging the police to take swift action, irrespective of political affiliations.
