NEW DELHI – Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee on Monday challenged the Congress party to provide evidence of electronic voting machine (EVM) tampering, urging them to present their claims to the election Commission of India.
“People who raise questions on EVMs, if they have anything, then they should go and show a demo to the Election Commission,” Banerjee stated.
his comments follow similar dismissals from Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister and INDIA bloc member Omar Abdullah, who criticized the Congress for blaming EVMs only when they loose elections.
“When you get a hundred plus members of Parliament using the same EVMs, and you celebrate that as sort of a victory for your party, you can’t then a few months later turn around and say we don’t like these EVMs because now the election results aren’t going the way we would like them to,” Abdullah told news agency PTI.
Echoing Abdullah’s stance, Banerjee emphasized the importance of proper EVM randomization and booth-level checks during mock polls and counting.
“If work is done properly at the time of EVM randomisation and the people who work on the booth check during mock polls and counting, then I don’t think there is any substance in this allegation,” he said.
Banerjee further challenged those alleging EVM tampering to demonstrate how the machines can be hacked, stating, “If still someone feels that EVMs can be hacked, then they should meet the Election Commission and show how EVMs can be hacked. Nothing can be done by just making random statements.”
Addressing questions about suggestions that Mamata Banerjee should led the opposition INDIA bloc, Abhishek Banerjee said, “INDIA bloc will sit and have a discussion on this matter.”
He acknowledged his mother’s experience and seniority, stating, “She (Mamata) is the senior most. This is her third term as the Chief Minister and she has also been a Union Minister before as well. so there should be a detailed discussion regarding this.”

TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee Challenges Congress on EVM Tampering Claims: An exclusive Interview
NewsDirect3.com – In a pointed address, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP abhishek Banerjee has dismissed the Congress party’s recent allegations of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering. Speaking exclusively to NewsDirect3.com,Banerjee challenged the Congress to provide concrete evidence of their claims, urging them to present their findings directly to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
