updated June 28, 2025
TNT Sports will end its 17-year role overseeing NBA TV operations, according to Luis Silberwasser, TNT Sports chairman and CEO. The change takes effect oct. 1, with day-to-day operations reverting to the league.
Silberwasser said TNT Sports made proposals to continue operating NBA TV and its digital assets. Though, an agreement recognizing the value of TNT’s expertise and content quality could not be reached.
In July 2024, the NBA announced an 11-year agreement with the Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal and Amazon Prime Video to broadcast about 75 games on linear television. All national games will be available on streaming services. TNT’s agreement included a minimum of 15 broadcast television games.
TNT will continue to produce digital content for the league through Bleacher Report and House of Highlights. The popular “Inside the NBA” studio show, featuring Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, shaquille O’Neal and Ernie Johnson, will continue, airing on ESPN and ABC.
What’s next
The NBA will assume full operational control of NBA TV, while TNT Sports focuses on its remaining NBA content, including “Inside the NBA” and digital content creation.
