Tragedy Strikes Madbury: Family of Four Lost in Apparent Murder-Suicide, Toddler Survives
Madbury, NH – A heartbreaking tragedy has unfolded in Madbury, New Hampshire, leaving a toddler orphaned and a community reeling. Authorities responded to a 911 call Monday evening to find four family members dead at a residence on Moharimet Drive.An autopsy confirmed that Ryan Young, 48, and his two children, eight-year-old Parker and six-year-old Ryan, died by homicide, while his wife, Emily young, 34, died by suicide. A firearm was reportedly discovered at the scene.
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the small town, with neighbors describing the Youngs as a seemingly perfect family. ”It was a perfect family as far as we knew,” said Bev Ketel, a neighbor. “Ryan certainly touched a lot of lives. He was part of the fabric of our community and his family goes along with it. It’s just shocking. We didn’t see it coming.”
In the months leading up to the devastating event, Emily Young had been openly sharing her struggles on TikTok as her husband battled glioblastoma, an aggressive and life-threatening brain tumor. in a video dated may 11th, she poignantly wrote, “Want to watch someone actually fall apart before your very eyes? I swear, this cancer will be the thing that breaks me.”
Her recent posts revealed a growing struggle with isolation and despair. “I’m trying to get myself out of this rut,” she shared in a more recent update. “I put makeup on and real clothes for the first time… in God only knows how long. I no I’ve said this before, but our kids are definately struggling.” She described feeling “depressed and reclusive” and attempting to reconnect with social life.
The youngest child, a toddler, was found unharmed at the scene and is now in the care of relatives.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati stated, “We are still in the early stages of the investigation. We don’t want to speculate as to a single reason or stressor.”
