Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé Signs Membership Documents with AIIB
The Togolese president, Faure Gnassingbé, has signed membership documents with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in the presence of the bank’s CEO, Mr. HU Kun. This membership allows Togo to access finance and obtain large-scale infrastructure aimed at promoting sustainable development and improving connectivity.
The AIIB aims to finance sustainable infrastructure projects in Asia and beyond, promoting economic development, prosperity, and regional connectivity through infrastructure projects and youth employment.
About the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)
The AIIB was officially created on October 22, 2015, in Beijing and started operations in 2016. It has 119 members worldwide and covers several sectors of activity, including transport, energy, water and sanitation, urban development, and digital connectivity.
The AIIB has $54 billion to its credit for infrastructure financing.
Digital Economy: Huawei Presents Innovative Projects to the Head of State
President Faure E. Gnassingbé was given a presentation of technological innovation projects by the Huawei Company related to integrated solutions from this international leader in information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and devices.
Huawei company officials reaffirmed their commitment to support Togo, with the intention of strengthening cooperation.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on the Togolese side by the Minister of Trade, Crafts and Local Consumption, Kayi Mivedor-Sambiani.
Peace, Security, and Stability: Sino-Togolese Cooperation
Peace, security, and stability are one of the main axes of Sino-Togolese cooperation. The President of the Republic, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, received the Chinese Minister of Defense on September 4, 2024, in Beijing.
Mr. Dong Jun discussed with the Head of State the strengthening of Sino-Togolese cooperation in defense matters in the context of security in West Africa and especially in Togo.

Public-Private Partnership: Chinese Investors Received by the Head of State
The President of the Republic, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, met with investors, personalities from the political and business world.
The day of September 4, 2024, was marked by talks with the Minister of International Cooperation of the Chinese Communist Party, Liu Jianvjao, the Director General of the Togolese branch of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), and the President of the China Africa Business Council (CABC), Mr. Wang Wiaoyong.
The Minister of International Cooperation of the Communist Party of China (CCP) discussed with the President of the Republic the Sino-Togolese partnership of more than 50 years in various fields, including political, economic, and social, as well as topics related to peace, security, and climate change.
Mr. Du Fei, President of the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), expressed to the Head of State his company’s desire to further support Togo to strengthen its infrastructure development policy.
The President of the Republic also met a delegation from the China Africa Business Council (CABC) led by its president, Mr. Wang Wiaoyong.
