Tom Cruise, known for his dedication to action roles, has secured a Guinness World Record for the “most burning parachute jumps by an individual.” The record recognizes his daring stunt work in the latest “Mission: Impossible” film, solidifying his reputation as an action hero.
Cruise performed 16 burning parachute jumps from a helicopter for “Mission: impossible – The Final Reckoning.” The stunt, filmed in Drakensberg, South Africa, involved Cruise leaping from a helicopter and igniting his parachute mid-air.
Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief at Guinness World Records, praised Cruise’s commitment. “Tom doesn’t just play action heroes — he is an action hero! A large part of his success can be chalked up to his absolute focus on authenticity and pushing the boundaries of what a leading man can do,” Glenday said.

Behind-the-scenes footage shared by Cruise and Paramount Pictures shows Cruise and director Christopher mcquarrie planning the stunt, acknowledging the inherent risks. The stunt required Cruise to deploy and ignite his parachute within 10 seconds, while managing potential twists and burns.
“What I’m going to do is,I’m going to be deploying. If this is twisted while it’s burning, I’m going to be spinning and burning. I have to kick out of the twist and then ignite within 10 seconds.”
This isn’t Cruise’s first foray into extreme stunts. he has previously scaled the Burj Khalifa, clung to a taking-off airplane, and base-jumped off a cliff for the “Mission: Impossible” series. His dedication to performing his own stunts has become a hallmark of the franchise.
In addition to this record for his action movie stunt, Cruise holds another Guinness title for “most consecutive $100-million-grossing movies,” with 11 films achieving this milestone between 2012’s “Jack Reacher” and “Final Reckoning.” “Final Reckoning” has grossed nearly $400 million worldwide.
